Dyno run!

While at the gap, I stopped my wheelers bike shop and had my bike dynoed.

Blue is the 4th gear pull, and the Red is the 6th gear pull.

Not bad for a 32000 miled F3!!!

btw 38.82 ft/lb's of torque

Man, i'd of thought it'd be higher than that, like 85ish. Do you have a jet kit or aftermarket air filter? I should get mine dynoed sometime.

That is at the wheel aswell, I don't think it is a very accurate measurement.

thats hella low bro. the magazines got high 80's out of it at the wheels and 44 ft lbs.

I wonder if that 4* advance isn't doing more harm than good?

I had my bike dynoed again here where I live and it made 90.5hp and 43.4 ft/lb of torque. Goes to show how different dynoes vary!!!!

The higher elevation has more to do with it.For example,at the Welkom track in South Africa the bikes lose 15% of their hp due to the higher elevation above sea level.

Your 98 should make more than that.Your carbs must be in need of adjustment. The 98s were the most powerful of the F3s,and my last stock F2 motor made 88.7 on pump gas.Your hp should be up around 95.

Not that im saying your full of ****, but a bone stock F3 (98) should be about 88-90ish HP at the wheels tops. Ive never seen a stock F3 turn a 95ish run on a dyno (at the rear wheels). Your Stock F2 made good numbers!!!!

And what carb adjustments do you reckon I need done???

....and I have the eddy-current dyno sheets to prove it ;)

The 98s were the best ones.Lookie here....

95-96 engines/carbs were the same.Good long life motors.

97s had a different set of carbs.Bone stockpower went up about 3hp over the 95-96s.

98s have the same carbs as the 97s,but the heads are different (waterflow and carb intake velocity tract is steeper),but will interchange with all F3s.HP went up about 1/2 to 1 full hp over the 97s.

Our bikes make better power with paper air filters. The only time a high-flow filter makes more power is when there is serious headwork done ( by KWS,MSP Cycle etc etc).

I have an F2 motor that's pickled on a bench right now,and she made 88-89hp on pump gas.The trick is getting the carbs right. There are two shops here in Atlanta that can nail it.

Three things with your motor pitbull:

Carb adjustment.Get it to someone who really knows these, not just someone who wants your money. The bike will be easier to ride also.I could tell you,but they all vary depending on engine wear.Plus I don't have an E.G.A. (co2 snorkel machine)

It may need a valve or two shimmed. The tighter the tolerance, the more efficient it will run, yielding more power.

Has it been well maintained? If someone has skimped on parts (cheap oil filters, carbs outta sync, chain all clapped-out,etc) it will show.

I know all this costs money, but with what you ain't spendin' on insurance should yield some to take care of your bike.
