Default Drive shaft oil seal?

well long story short i bought a cbr 600 f3 off a guy who said it was just leaking out of the shft shaft seal... well that wasnt the case. its actually leaking out of the seal behind the sprocket. ive been told that you have to split the case in order to get it replaced. i was quoted about 1200 at some of the shops around here and have a friend of a friend saying he'd do it for 700. is there anyway this can be sealed up any or maybe some other way around this.. i hate that i got screwed like this and not sure how to go about it. the guy isnt going to do anything about it. also what is this guy talking about
https://cbrforum.com/m_377172/tm.htm

could there be something wrong with the seal on the sprocket, the rubber on the back of it doesnt look so good... but it doesnt really look like it has anything to do with the other seal, unless its really ate up.

if this seal is in like the sohc 750`s,all you need to do is turn a small sheet metal screw into the metallic portion of the seal and pull out, then tap the new back in.if not,i havent a clue.good luck

wow, that sucks.i think engineers should be made to work on these things when they design them, then they might do things different.

I've never split the case of an F3 but I was looking it over and it doesn't look so bad. I think the worst part is getting the engine out of the bike. It's a lotta work but not impossible.

If you gotta go that far go ahead and rebuild.Might as well if you gotta split the cases.May be cheaper to buy another motor.

I have an extra F3 motor if you want it.
