Default Do I need a chainguard and hugger or just a chainguard...or neither?

I just bout a 1996 honda cbr 600 f3...I was wondering if i needed a chain guard with a hugger or without or neither because it doesnt have any. I want to get one just to be on the safe side, would a 97 or 95 hugger and chain guard fit the same? Where would anyone recommend getting this stuff at...I am new to this and just got the bike if anyone could help out that would be great,
thanks

You need a chain guard, ok its only plastic, but it stops the fling off from the chain going all over your bike & probably your left leg, (yes i know you can get chain lube that won't fling, but the chain pick up road crap that can) Here a chain guard is a legal requirement, so it may be the same there.
Hugger does the same thing for the rear wheel, mine came with the bike, and seeing how yours is the F3, you can fit one. I have seen aftermarket ones (carbon fibre look) that will definetly be cheaper than the geniune Honda one, also you could probably get the chain guard & hugger at a wreckers. But if you don't want to go that far. then I can't see it being a prob. I managed to live without one on my others bikes. But the chain guard I would definetly get .

I don't have either on my 97 F3 and I don't have any problems. I like the look, a lot more aggressive, like the newer ones! Nice and clean!

i sent u a pm , i'll take a pic of the hugger and guard tomorrow and send it to u , i'll have to see if i have the bolts that hold it on , i have about 50 different bolts and nut off the bike since i took it off the street and made it a track bike , and your swingarm should have the stock mounting points one is by the rear sprockets and i think theres a couple more on the swingarm
