The search function couldn't help me find answer tothis question: If I move up from the 43t rear sprocket to a 45t (same pitch and material), do I need to get a chain with more links than the stock 108-link ? What's the rule with this...

 

I planned to do the same with my F4i, but I also planned to drop a tooth in the front sprocket. Couldnt get a clear answer, but I imagine that a well used chain should have enough slack in it to do the job ... (with the front sprocket change also)

Id say go for it as long as you dont get rid of your stock stuff, worst case youll need to geta new chain. Best of luck

 

Best thing to do is determine the shape of your other components (front sprocket and chain) and if they are in good condition try it and see if you can adjust it within specs.

 

Yeah, both sprockets and chain are in healthy condition other than average chain stretch.

I hope I can get away withslipping a steel 45T under the chain and have it work out well.
