Default Dieing in 6th

I was riding my motorcycle today, and when I shifted up to the top gear it bogged down when I down shifted down it shut off. After that it took a bit for it to start up and when it did the samething happened when I shifted up again. After that it would start but whenever I added gas it would bog down and die never getting past 2000 RPM. However when I would turn the choke to max it would start and Rev and work normally but the Idle would be somewhere near 3000. It needs an oil change but Im not sure that is what is cuaseing this issue. Any ideas?

Jets might be dirty, choke might be sticking? don't really know. when an engine "boggs down" it usually a fuel delivery issue. Not to worry doesn't necessarly mean rip apart the engine.

Check the jets if you can. Try to get it to start without the choke see if that helps with the idle rpm.

That's my .02$ Hope it helps.

Is this something that happened out of nowhere or has the bike been sitting????

Well its a new bike I recently bought it, but I had yet to shift up to 6th. I had already put about 70 miles on it, everything had worked fine till then. But I believe the previous owner let it sit over the winter.

IT will start without any choke but when I attempt to rev the engine it dies if I ever get it past 2000 RPM. And starts to die anywhere going to 2000, idleing about 1300.

Do this, crank and let idle.Reach down and lightly touch each exhaust pipe right below the radiator(dont burn yourself, just use the tip of your finger) and see if all four are equally as hot.Post back and let me know and we'll go from there.

Indeed we do.Im thinking he has a combination plug and carb problem. One or two plugs fouled and clogged pilots, but if he can get it to rev he may be able to get it out and blow some of that crap out.If you let these things sit up it scores or rings the float needles. Thus instant fuel fouled plugs and when they run on two or three they just fall on there face when you try to rev them.

I run the GSXR plugs in mine.CR10 something,I cant remember the # but they have dual electrodes and dont foul as easy.Same cost as well.

Yea I would check the plugs and if they are ok I would make sure fuel if getting to the carbs okay and then clean the carbs.
