The insurance estimator looked at my bike today (one week after someone pulled out in front of me causing me to crash) and he has written the bike off, so it no longer belongs to me which is a bit gutting as the bike was mint and I was planning on keeping it forever. I paid £1800 for 6 months ago which is a good deal, the insurance company offered my £2500 for it which is a good price. My injuries are healing quite well, so I am now looking for a new bike to store until next year, I have got my eye on a 03 Kawasaki 636 (might see if my budget will strech to get an 05)so looks like I will not be a HONDA rider anymore.
On the subject of new bikes have any of you guys got any recommendations, I think I will stick with a 600 but might go for a GSXR750?

Cheers

Mike

Be wary of the Kawi's ,as they have fragile transmissions.

Bad luck old son, Go with wot you want, I've owned all the Jap brands & have had no real probs with them. (unlike the Italian ones I've had) The 636 has got some good reviews in the mags & the extra mumbo would be a bonus. Wot about the Triumph Daytona 675?. Any cheaper there? Before I got my CBR, I had short listed a couple of bikes. Being Mr Practical & wanting an all rounder, I was thinking Triumph Sprint & the Suzuki GSX750F (although I think in England it came out as a 600??) Also have a think of buying back your bike as salvage from the insurance company (it will be cheap), buying a decent CBR & use your old one fer bits.
Either way, sorry for your stack, don't disappear from the forum, keep us posted eh.

Thanks for the info, I don't think I will buy my old bike back because I think it will just sit in my garage and I will never get around to do anything with it. As for the Triumph I am not a big fan, us English are great designers but not always the best at building things ;-). I went to my local dealer yesterday and he basically said you can't buy a bad 600 nowadays its more down to feel andlooks, I am 90% sure I will get a GSXR600 K4 or K5, the 750's cost a bit more, but at the moment I am not ruiling out anything, I am just looking for a mint low milage modern 600.
I will always keep an eye on the forum and offer input.

Ride safe

Cheers guys

Mike

Oh Mike, don't know why I missed it but I've only just seen this. Gutted for you and your mint CBR, hope you get well soon and the insurers get their fingers out and sort it ASAP. On the subject of Triumphs, at least try the 600 Daytona (instead of the 675), a friend of mine has one and it's awesome. Wouldn't do for my everyday commute etc. but a great bike. GSXRs are nice but there's thousands of them!

I might try a triumph if you think its worth a ride, yeah GSXR's are common but I like the look and feel of them and coz there are quite a few around you can get a nice one, hopefully will get a cheque next week, £2500 seems like a good price what do you think?
I should be able to get a K4 GSXR with low milage for under £4k.
