RE: Clutch noise

What your hearing is the clutch basket, It's normal for the bike to make that noise. Unless its really excessive. When you pull the clutch in, it should stop. Chances are you have just picked up on it (as in "Wot the hell is that?") and can't remember hearing it before, & now you can't stop listening for it. Excessive noise from the clutch will usually mean you would notice other faults as well, like clutch drag & slippage (accelerate & suddenly the bike will just rev for a second before it lurches away), As a worn clutch slowly disintergrates, it leaves its calling card , suspended in your oil (little fibrous bits). My bikes clutch basket noise is a rumble with a bit of rattle, which its done from new.
So unless its really loud & your also having clutch problems, just forget about it.

I've wondered about that noise too. I thought it was the fan for a little while but then determined that nothing strange really. My old bike (94 Yamaha XJ600) was the king of odd ball noises. But it ran like a tank(And still does after the guy who bought it wrecked it).

RE: Clutch noise

i now put a total of 2200 mi on it since i put a new motor in it. pacemaker isright , now i cant stop listening for noises. But what made me ask about it is cuz for some reason the bike hesitates only sometimes maybe once or twice a week but its off and on. if im on the highway at steady rpm it jerks back a bit the itll drive fine then it might do it again or not at all for a while . so i thought maybe it had something to do with that noise.BUtit dont slip or no signs of badclutch. really since its off and on i really havent taken anything apart to chek what it could be , i really dont know what to chek. has this happened to any of your bikes??BUt this is first bike, besides dirtbike.

besides that I CANT BELIEVE HOW FAST THESE F3 ARE ITS AMAZING! my boy got a yamaha 1000 08 w/ Kr tuned exhuast/powercommander/ and in a race i got himthrough 1 2most 3then he'll get movin. But Yamaha 08 11,000$ my cbr 600 F33,500$ lol

RE: Clutch noise

This is just a suggestion, but when you where cruising along & it hesitated (sort of), where there any crosswinds?? Cause a lot of riders don't know that with the Air Induction (two vents at the front) a good blast from a crosswind can suddenly rob the bike of power. Could also be it may just need a good old tune up.

RE: Clutch noise

when suppose give tune up , like i said 2200 mi since the new motor/carbrebuild/plugs/oil/jet kit/sprocket and chain, the only thing i havent got done is a valve adjustment. but the place i bought the motor took pic of supposed bike that my motor came from with only 6000mi . i figure valve s get done ever 10 or 15,000 mi .

RE: Clutch noise

Could be a few things that can cause hesitation, fuel & plugs, dirty air filter. Out of sync carbs though can show up more at a steady speed (as your usually throttling on & off during normal riding). Could be something simple like a dose of bad fuel.
Tunes ups with bikes? That can go out of tune in the milage you have done or three times the distance.
Don't want to make you paranoid here & get you worrying needlessly, just going through the more probable causes ok.
