Clutch Adjustment

Hey Guys,
Long time no speak, Nothing going wrong so no need to ask for help haha.
My clutch has always been ok no problems with slipping etc, except of late when I have been riding vigorously out of corners and my fingers have been on the clutch lever i have found the bike clutch slips. This seems to be because my clutch lever releases very high on the lever?
If I am riding and depress the lever very little the clutch will slip, I have the correct amount of free travel on the lever it is just there seems to be very little movement to disengage the clutch.
Up until now this has not really bothered me as I know it was me that started the slip but I am booked in for a track day and I don't want to have a clutch failure half way through the day if you know what i mean i want to have complete confidence etc
So basically where should the clutch take up be? because as of now after the 1 inch of free travel and just a little bit more the clutch will slip if the engine is under load. Should it be closer to the middle of the travel and does this mean I should replace the clutch etc?
Thanks
