Default Chain break Riveter tool

Has anyone used this tool to break/rivet their chain? From link I assume it does both?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOTOR...#ht_2069wt_941

I bought one last year, however have not used it yet. Somewhere on here I read a write-up from a guy who used it, but of course I can't find that thread now.

I'm getting ready to do my chain and sprockets this winter. I want to make sure I rivet things correctly and the more I read about it the more I get confused. I've looked at the MotionPro kits and they have a lot more parts and pieces than my simple tool? I just want to make sure I do this right.

Ive used a similar tool.

I used a grinder to cut the old chain off, but the riveter works really well just make sure yo line it up correctly.

Ya, I agree. Most multipurpose chainbreakers/riveters suck at the breaking part. A dremel (or better yet die grinder) will make quick work of removing the chain. A decent rivet will depend on your skills

I did a write up on this a while back ... will try to find it.

Edit:

Found it ... click!

Thanks for the tips and the link. I hope to get to taking the chain off this week. I'm sure I can find a friend with a dremel since that seems to be the consensus.

Well so much for that chain tool. I used a grinder to grind off the ends of the rivets on my chain and proceeded to use the above mentioned chain tool and got half way through the first pin and the tool broke. I didn't even know it broke until I backed things off and saw two pieces. (see attached) That was a waste of $. I literally used it once. I didn't even get to the second pin. I guess my question is could I have done something wrong to make the tool break...or most likely it is just a cheap tool. Guess I should of gone with the MotionPro.

Everything was going slick until that happened!
