hi, i have a friend who brokeher honda cbr 96 f3 lower case. as a gift i would like to get her a new one. do i have to get it from a 96 model bike? i dont know much bikes so all the info you uys can give me will help.

 

What exactly do you mean when you say lower case?

 

i have no idea. i just know thats what she said she broke. that she broke the lower case. ive looked on ebay and seen twaht they look like....i just dont know if a have to get the same year make or what.

 

possibly the crankcase???

An engine for a motorcycle includes an engine case split in an upper case section and a lower case section. A mating surface between the upper case section and the lower case section extends linearly and inclines forward downward in a side view of the motorcycle. A crankshaft, a transmission input shaft, and a balancer shaft extending in the width direction of the motorcycle are rotatably supported at the mating surface, and a transmission output shaft rotated by the transmission input shaft is supported in the lower case section. The balancer shaft, the crankshaft, and the transmission input shaft are arranged in that order from the front side in the running direction of the motorcycle. The transmission output shaft is disposed below the transmission input shaft.

 

OK THAT MAKES SENSE...they were talking about welding it to the...somethng...but if they did that they would never be able to remove the something...

i just want to know...for a 96 cbr do i have to get the lower case from a cbr 96 or is there other year modelsi can get it from?

 

cases go in pairs, so if it's the lower crank case, you'll need a MATCHING upper, as well (it's how they are machined)
If it's just a stator cover, I'll sell ya one.
