carbs IS IT HARD TO DO REBUILD?????
 

i took bike to shop and they told me everything is good compression/ electrical they said that the engine isnt getting any fuel???/ but i dont know how they come about to say that its the a fuel issue the carbs that they are saying need rebuild are the same ones off the other motor that was running fine at one time it was something internel that killed it but carbs were ok . does anyone know how to check if carbs are bad or has anyone rebuilt there own carbs IS IT HARD IS IT SOMETHING YOU CAN DO YOURSELF OR DO YOU RECOMMEND LETTING THE SHOP DO IT THEY WANT 600.00 THATS INCLUDING TO PUT IN STAGE ON JET KIT.

if you have a good place to work on it, and you dont rush it, its pretty easy, somewhat frustrating but you dont need any special tools, just time, some room to keep organized, a few beers and some patience

Has the bike been sitting?


Synching carbs isn't hard,or expensive.If you do the rebuild yourself,the carbs should be "close enough" to run pretty good.Then get the shop to sync them if you don't want to do that.

Take digital photos!

Take some pics after you have the tank off, then take a few picks once you have the air box off.

This will help in getting fuel lines and vacuum lines routed right.

Then take a few pics of the carbs mounted on the motor.

Then take several photos of the carb set sitting on your bench.

Get clear photos of all sides before you tear it apart.

1+ on doing the carbs youyrself. Just after rebuilding mine. Made a poors man carb synch and everyting is fab.

I need to rebuild, re-jet, and sync my carbs. What rebuild kits did you guys use? What jet kits (if it wasn't part of the rebuild.) I've never done this before, but I'm tired of wreaking of gas. My bike runs very rich and it'll start bouncing when you leave it on a certain rpm, I'm assuming it's getting flooded.
