Default carb question wont keep an idle.

95 cbr f3 yosh slip on k and n air filter. my bike when reved high seems like its starving for fuel check the fuel pump that works had the carbs cleaned new plugs oil change new air filter and new fuel filter. rode the bike 8 miles and did the same thing it did before i cleaned the carbs was going 80 in 3rd or 4th came to slow down and the bike cut out and died. not sure what the problem is. do i need to do a jet kit? i believe there stock now. the bike will only stay running if the choke is all the way forward towards you and when pushed off or away from you the bike dies.

Something else is going on. A slip-on and filter won't lean you out enough for motor to not idle. It wouldn't do that even with a high dollar full system. Check for vacuum leaks around carb boots (insulators). Did you make sure air box is sealed all the way around?

yes i made sure it is sealed all the way around. all the vacuum lines are there. could the carb be clogged again after just cleaning it?

Anything's possible. While you had pilot jets and fuel screws out, did you spray carb cleaner through both holes and made sure cleaner sprayed out tiny hole in front of butterflies? Alot of people skip this step. It's the one sure way to tell if those passages are clean.

The guy I bought my bike from parked it for this very same issue.
It turned out to be damaged ribs inside the carb insulators.
I almost missed it when I was inspecting the carbs.
Plus they were hard and that made pulling the carbs a pain in the ***!
I put 4 new ones on and my bike now idles under 1000 rpm.
The old owner is still kicking himself.
Be sure to look at the insulators carefully.

Those are the rubber boots (Tubes) between the carbs and engine.
When you have the carbs off, look inside the boots for rubber rib damage.

Anything could be the problem.
But if you have any vacuum leaks, you must fix them before having the carbs synced.

The guy I bought the bike from had tried to sync the carbs and gave up, because he missed the leaking carb insulator intake boots.

has anyone here had a problem with it cutting out in the bottom of third? i cant even keep mine running in third without feathering the throttle back and forth, i thought maybe the carbs were dirty so i went and had them cleaned and what not and the mechanic said he put it all back to stock, but still the same problems....around 4k to 8k rpms in third gear up itll cut out so bad it is almost unrideable....cant even get it over 55 in third, but first and second itll run no problems. also changed out the plugs when he did the carb job....any ideas?
