You definatly got a timing problem if it's banging & backfiring,
go back and recheck everything you done
its easy to get a cam 180 out
don't forget the crankshaft turns 2 times faster than the cams
take no notice about your plugs being junk coz they got wet, thats complete rubbish your plugs will be fine
listen to the experts, & you won't go far wrong.

I did not know the plugs were brand new... sorry in that cause yes I would just clean them up and put them back in. BUT... sometimes once plugs get wet inside.... not just on the outside, they are then junk. But most the time that is an extreme case. Yea if it was backfiring after a couple seconds I would also say go back and check the cams. I was thinking it cranked and cranked then it started backfiring.

NO way can a plug be junk if it gets wet on the inside thats total rubbish,
I have fixed bikes for years with cylinders that have gone down totally soaking the plug through with fuel and oil
put the motor back together with the same plugs and fire her up no problems
Who told you that about the plugs TRANS???
