The 2003 Vtec VFR is a great bike, I traded my F3 in on a B&W one. 2011 model, but pretty much the same. They have same reputation with the Rec as the F3 (& chances are its already been replaced) The top speed is down on the F3 by about 30 kph (18 mph) & puts out about 110 bhp, but your getting good power low & up through the range. People will tell you that the Vtec valves are expensive to have adjusted, except very few if any have to. Even if you do, don't take it to Honda workshop, as they will rip your heart out. The Vtec is pretty straight forward, 2 valves per cylinder untill the revs reach about 6500-6800 rpm & then the your running on all 4 valves, then the power boost & the engine sound will put a smile on your face. The Vtec motors don't have the gear driven cams. The set up of the bike (to me) was very close to the F3 & the extra weight pretty much disappears once your moving.
The engine has a nice V4 lump to it, but the bike is still vibration free & the gear box is typical Honda. You also get the single sided swing arm & chain adjustment is a snack.
