Default 400 mile F3 trip

My work week started off with a 400 mile round trip for 2 sales calls. I woke up around 6am and knew that the company car would be staying in the driveway. It was definitely a bike day. The stats factor in below:

Cities: Bismarck, ND to Glendive, MT and back
Conditions: 68-85 degrees, mild breeze
Bike: 1998 Honda F3, RS-3 slip on, stock gearing
Road Traveled: Interstate 94 the whole way (minus local roads to customer's homes)
Total Miles: 418 miles (36 under road construction)
Fuel Consumed: Approximately 11.3 gallons (37mpg)
Gear: Teknic Chicane jacket, Icon Hooligan 2 gloves, TK-8 helmet, Sidi Slash boots, and jeans
Accessories: iPod Nano with Skull Candy earbuds and Titleist backpack (about 12 lbs)
Other bikes seen: 13 (not a single sportbike)
Law Enforcement Officers: ZERO!!

This was probably the most enjoyable road trip I've ever had. I-94 is an extremely flat stretch of road that allows a comfortable cruising speed of about 85mph. There is very limited traffic. I don't think I had to slow down more than a couple times due to other vehicles. For a handful of years, Montana had no speed limit. Many travelers in this area still cruise around 85-95. I was passed several times while maintaining a speed around 90mph. I didn't see a cop the entire trip.

I am around 6'1" and weigh about 250lbs. I was completely comfortable tucked into the F3. I wouldn't hesitate to take this thing anywhere. I will be headed to Minneapolis in about 3 weeks and if the forecast is clear plan on taking this bike.

I have ridden a few GSXRs, a couple Buells, an R1, and an F4i, and the F3 is the most comfortable sportbike I have ever ridden...hands down!!

On the other hand, I-94 to Seattle is an A W E S O M E bike trip. Takes you through all the best parts of the mountains.

It's that massive freakin' seat we got. I got a nice lambskin cover for it, and it really cuts down on the "swass."

I-94 from Minneapolis through a good half of Montana is pretty flat and allows for awesome high speed cruising. The western part is fondly referred to as "Montanabon."

I'm glad to report that I am completely free of any stiffness or being sore from yesterday's ride.

In the last week of August, my wife and I are riding up to Indianapolis, IN for the 2009 MotoGP races. Any takers...
