Default 1st Real Ride

I have been riding sporadically for a few years, but today i had my fiorst real ride on my own bike. i had waited two weeks for the paintjob and spent all day yesterday wiring the lights and getting it all ready.

I went ofr about 125 miles with 3 friends through some very twisty roads here in central missouri. I t was amazing! We also went down I-70, my friends have been riding quite some time so it was fun to see them popping wheelies and it was great cruising 105 down the highway!

I am definately hooked, and the next 7 days aren't suppoesd to dip below 65, i am in heaven! I'll try to get some pics of my bike before and after on here in a while.

+1 on the weather.

I'm from SE Nebraska but have been up in ND for some time. The natives have been chomping at the bit to get on the road. Not too many twisties around where I'm at, and lots of winter gravel and sand... But it was nice to get out and run a tank of gas through.

Get them pics!

Quite a change in 2 weeks if i do say so. I wish i had some pics of the chain, i didn't know it was a gold chain until after 20 minutes of scrubbing, and the sprocket is shiny metal too! my wife was pissed because i had the living roon a mess for two weeks while i was cleaning and prepping for paint. I only had to pay 350 for the paint, and that included some fiberglass repair! total money spent in the change was 450 dollars, not including cleaining stuff (love CRC Brakekleen).

My only question is: do you all think i should put any decals on it? I was thinking maybe racing look with sponsor-like stickers, but i really like the plain look.

Hey Shultz that is a damn good deal on the paint, if I didn't live so far away I might consider contacting the painter. Not real impressed to hear about the wheelies, and 100+ freeway drivin, glad to see you wearing gear in your photo! Also I agree w/ David the stickers looks good. and I found that carburator / choke cleaner works even better than the brake clean.

I wasn't doing the wheelies! i was just watching. the fast clips were short ones also. I have all gear except pants, ran out of money. I never thought of using carb cleaner, i thought it might leave a residue or something on the chain. I am actually going to stay away from the guys i rode with for awhile, they kinda scared me so i am going to get a little more comforatable before i go with them again. that way i know my limits and don't try to play catch up with them.

I wasn't attacking you, just don't want to lose another rider to stupidness! You sound smart enough to knownot to ride outside of your skill level, and that my friend will save you life. Just be safe, watch others, and enjoy the ride! oh yeah, the carb cleaner was the miracle solution for my swing arm, sprocket bolts, rotor bolts, fairings. I had years of chain wax build up on my bike when I got it, and I was able to get it ALL off, its amazing stuff!
