1997 f3 wot problems

hey guys i just got a 1997 cbr f3 with 19,000 miles. the bike runs perfect and i just changed its oil and did some routine maintenance. the one problem i have though is when i gas it over about 6k rpms the motor will rev very high and then after about a second or 2 the bike will catch up to the rpms. the bike shifts fine and the clutch doesnt slip when shifting but would i probably need a new one? thanks for the help in advance,
ian

What type and brand of oil did you use in it ? The symptoms you're describing indicate clutches that are slipping. 19,000 miles is not that many miles. It's possible that the bike was ridden really hard and the clutches are actually worn out, or the wrong oil (read car oil) was used and the friction modifiers in the oil are causing the clutch to slip. Could also be an adjustment issue with the cable if there is no play in the clutch lever.

Congratulations on your new bike.

Hey thanks for the reply, I just got the oil changed at a shop so i don't think that would be the problem. What parts of the clutch need to be replaced? I was looking it up and couldn't find what exactly needed to be replaced. Also, how
Much would be a fair price for a local shop to do it? Thanks alot,
Ian

how do you adjust the clutch cable? there isnt any play in the lever but i read that the actual cable connected to the clutch may be the problem
