Default 180 Rear tyre clearance

Hi all. New member with a question about running a 180 rear tyre on a 96 F3. The gap between the tyre and chain is roughly 5mm. Surely this is too close? Have 3 track days coming up and trying to get my bike sorted asap. Many thanks in advance

unless you get a wider rim, then stick with a 160 or 170, especially since you're going to be riding on track. you can fit a 180, but it'll deform the tire some, not a big deal on the street, but you'd notice it at full lean at the track.

Thanks for that. Have been to my local race track and spoke to a few guys with steel frame CBRs. Some running 160 and some running 180, all with different opinions. I'm on track Tuesday and Friday next week so will be able to see for myself the difference in handling
