I could get a pretty good deal on a yoshi slip on for my F2. But then somebody told me it would just make my bike louder (insinuating it wont get more power, or be beneficial at all). Additionally, I was told that I need to get it jetted in order for it to be tuned right for the pipe. Is this right? So is it even worth it?

 

Aftermarket pipes are an aesthetic and weight upgrade, and a nice pipe will produce a pleasant sound.

Some pipes like D&D are obnoxious and tinny sounding, and way too loud.

You will require a jet kit to dial in the fuel mixture, any "free flowing" exhaust or intake modifications will require changes in the jetting.

 

Slip-ons may allow a tiny HP gain (like 1hp, maybe) but that gain would require jetting work. So, without jetting, you may actually lose HP but you probably won't even notice it, nor would you notice the gain if you jetted.

Hershey already said it, they are really aesthetic and lighter, nothing more.

 

I have a yoshi slip on.... runs great, no jetting necessary. No (noticeable) power increase. It is lighter than stock and it cools off quicker.

Worth the cost for the deeper exhaust note and aesthetics.

on older bikes the need to rejet with a slipon is more so than with newer EFI bikes that can compensate for lil changes. Feeling the possible added power is questionable tho, you may only gain 5% or 1 hp from it, but you free up hp from the weight that is removed. For every 7lbs you remove you gain 1hp.

 

My bike had an obnoxiously loud slip-on (no rejetting) when I bought it and I replaced it with much quieter Yoshi R&D one and it works beautifully and sounds pretty good too. I'm sure some freer flowing slip-ons would probably require some rejetting to have them run correctly, but your bike will let you know which ones they are.

 

Hmmm, 80 bucks for some looks, sound and highly likely for no additional power? I dont know. I just might not.

 

well if you ever plan to jet id go for it, both mods go hand in hand.
