Damn man, sorry to hear insurance is screwing you over. Hopefully you can pick up something decent or find the parts to get your f2 back on the street.

Curious as to why you were looking at a 2012? Dealers should be getting ready to dump their 2011's at the end of this season and tons still have 10's and 09's left sitting.

Can't say they screwed me, it's right there in the terms of the uninsured motorist coverage I've got. I don't have comprehensive, honestly who would on an old F2? They paid out quickly, and I actually convinced a friend to come to progressive based on how fast they paid!

There are very few 09s and 10s and 11s around here in the bay, and the '12s have some cool new features. The older ones were selling at like a $400 dollar discount here, which doesn't matter on a 12K bike. The dealers around here have very few sportbikes at all, and a piddly amount of 750s. No discounts on anything but Kawasakis.

Ah, I didn't re-read the first post, I thought you were hit by an uninsured driver and the insurance wasn't paying you . I see what the deal is now.

That sucks about the lack of witness... then again "That's what friends are for" if you catch my drift

The GSXR 750 would make your day for sure. You do know you can finance used bikes though right? Get yourself a mid 2000's GSXR 750

Oh yeah, and there were no 2010 Suzuki GSXR's imported into the states, hence their value is driven up a bit.

True. The financing offer I got was just a personal unsecured loan through a credit union, and I could have bought $11,000 of cheese for all they cared. I don't want to be on the hook for a loan though. I'm going to be a graduate student next year, and going from making an engineers salary to a grad student's stipend means that a couple hundred a month could be the difference between being above and below water. Spending 800 sprucing up my owned outright and insured f2 is more palatable than 4-5K on a bike I'd be willing to upgrade too, especially since I don't have a garage!

I tried to convince those guys a bit to say they saw what happened but what they didn't see, but they were unwilling and I didn't want to have 3 stories going around.

Just a little update. I spend all of yesterday and about 5 hours today getting my bike together. She starts up fine, and idles nice. However, when I started her I noticed the carbs are leaking pretty bad. It looks like it's coming from the fuel lines after the T at the carbs. I hope it's just old hoses and not the O-rings, because I do not want to split the carbs! There isn't an easy way to replace those guys, right?

OK fixed the leak, it was the clamps/hose leading to the #3 and #4 carb. Went for a ride and about 1/2 way through the front end started clunking. Sure enough, the steering stem bearings went and I've got another good day's work in. The all ***** tapered guys are on order. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm sure it'll go fine.

steering head bearing are gone?? not really a surprise considering that pic you posted of the front forks snapped in half.

Good job getting the old F2 back together... the bearings will be easy!
