When i bought my bike, the guy found a lowering link in his garage that he said would fit...It is about 8 inches long and 1 inch wide...Is this a suitable lowering link for the CBR or does this link belong to something else?

nope, one hole on each end...which is why im leaning towards an incompatibility...Usually they are adjustable...

 

I just went and pulled my stock93 F2 suspension linkout of the top of my toolbox, it's 1 3/8" wide, and 5 3/8" long. That one does look likean F2 lowering link, but it's probably gonna drop it 2.5" ~ 3". [8D]

 

R u sureu wanna drop it that much?? Dont push it to the lowest setting, thats the way mine is and its too low, in fact part of my shock strickes part of the frame below the battery. Just becareful how low u take it, and do a lil more research, im guessing that there are no brand names or model number engraved on your link right?? cuz my lowering link is unmarked so i cant trace it back to where it came from...
