Where does the throttle stop screw go in an F2?
Hello all,
This is my first post on this forum. Please bear with me as a do a horrible job of describing my problem.
I have a 1991 F2 that I am ashamed to say, allowed to deteriorate. I did not ride it for 3 years and had it outside for most of that time (including two New England winters). I really really hope its not completely dead.
Anyway, I installed a new batter in it and if fired up after a few cranks. The problem is that it would only run on full choke, and any movement of the throttle would stall out the engine. I suspect that my carburetors are completely gummed up.
I have two questions:
1. While trying to keep the engine running, I kept trying to lean the choke while turning the idle adjust screw on the left side of the bike (called a "throttle stop screw" in the service manual) and inadvertently completely unscrewed it from where ever it goes. Where does it go? There is a spring over the threads of the screw.
2. How difficult will it be for me to remove the carburetor assembly and do the de-gumming myself. I am fairly mechanically inclined, but I am afraid to de-synchronize the carbs or do some other harm, i.e. break/lose tiny parts. Is this something I can do at home with basic hand tools? If so, can anyone point me to photographs or video on how to do it?
Thanks a million for your help (and tolerating this long posting).
Alex
