What is this piece called?

And do I need it? I have one on the other side. One day I was doing routine maintenance and discovered it was missing... The piece that goes on the end of the swingarm.

ok, found my own answer. It's called.....a plate! Do I need it right this minute?\
oh by the way, if anyone ever needs parts.. http://www.hondafrontline.com/fiche_...93&fveh=124843 these guys are right down the street from me. |
What's missing is the end plate, and the 2 adjusting nuts for your your chain tensioner system there.
you definitely need it to properly align your rear axle and tension your chain if you ever loosen your rear axle. You don't have to have it to ride if the axle is tight and everything is in line. You could get by with a big washer, and replacing the missing nuts if you needed to line stuff up right now. I'd definitely make sure the rear axle is properly tight, just to be safe. replacement part is like $12-ish. You need PArts # 11, 24, & 25 on this diagram. the reason for the 2 nuts, is to that you can tighten them against each other once you have everything lined up and the rear axle tightened. Once the rear axle is tight, nothing can slide forward or back. If those 2 nuts aren't tight against each other, and against the plate, they'll vibrate right off.
