Default Tires for F2

New bike I'm getting could really use some new tires. I've found the Bridgestone Battlax BT-016s. it's $206 shipped for the set
Front Size - 120/60ZR-17: Bridgestone Battlax BT-016 Front Tire - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

Rear Size - 160/60ZR-17: Bridgestone Battlax BT-016 Rear Tire - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

Are these at all good for commuting? I'm looking for something with good wet and dry traction since I'll daily ride it.

My wife has these on her Triumph. They are pretty good on commuting, not very good on being aggressive. All purpose type of tire, I wouldn't push the tires too hard in the corners.

Take a look at the Dunlop Roadsmart 2's. Great commuting tire and sticky side walls for really great cornering. I only hear great reviews for all around tire. Now I don't know if they are great in wet weather though.

I'm not that worried about ultimate grip, I'll be doing <50mph for 80% of my riding. so tire longevity and rain performance are most important.

ive got got metzeler m3's on my f3
they seem to be holding up pretty well, ive put about 1600 miles on them so far (mainly highway/interstate) and they havent started to square off yet.
ive had them in the rain a couple times and dont have any complaints.

I ran the BT-016's for a year and a half, never again. Main issue was tire wear. Don't remember the exact mileage ( a search may show mileage in one of my previous posts), but I believe it was around 3k on the rear and 7k on the front. Switched to Pilot Road 3. Rear wore out premature due to circumstances outside its control ( my bad ), front still looks brand new after several thousand miles.

As for wet, I never had any issue with the 016's, but the PR3's are absolutely confidence inspiring. I found a 6" deep puddle and kept turning up the speed that I hit it at until I was doing over 75mph. Every pass was stable as I could ever hope for. I did however take quite a shower as the front tire will throw a wall of water over the front of the windscreen. I also have no fear of lowsiding on wet surfaces with the PR3's, probably shouldn't push that one though...

I also have the Metzeler Sportec M3. They have almost 6000 km (3750 miles) and still plenty of tread and no noticeable squaring. Only problem I have is on really cold days around 5-6 C (41 - 43 F). The tires don't heat up enough at in town speeds and the back tire breaks loose when I start up too fast to take a corner.
I haven't had a problem in rain but I don't try to take corners too fast when it is wet.

2v1, however, I'm willing to spend the extra $50 to get the Sportec M5s if they are in fact better all around than the M3s.
