sputtering and stalling

After a week and a half of bad weather, I was finally able to ride yesterday. I started the bike and let it run for ~15 min before the engine died. I restarted the bike with no problem and when I started to ride within a mile or so, the bike started sputtering and died so I coasted to a stop. I couldn't restart the bike right away so I turned everything off for 15 min and restarted the bike again. I started to ride again and after about 1 mile the bike started sputtering and died. So I waited a little longer this time and restarted the bike and was able to get back home.

The tank was full of gas because I filled it up the last time I rode it 1 1/2 weeks ago. So I am thinking it is the battery because I can think of no other reason why waiting 10 min would temporarily fix the problem. So I removed the battery and charged it, also just incase it was something else I added some carb cleaner and heat to my gas tank.

Has anyone else seen this type of problem before, or am I in the ballpark thinking it is the battery.

So today after having a charged battery I did not have the same problem. Not sure if it was indeed the battery being low or something wrong with the gas. Is there a way to test the battery out other than just checking for 12 volts?

There is a breather tube under the gas tank. Its just a tube that hangs down and is attached to nothing. If that gets kinked then the bike will run for a few minutes and then sputter and stall. Make sure that tube is hanging freely. ;)

I think that was it. I checked it today and it was bent in half. there were two tubes hanging from the tank, the one on the right (looking toward the front of the bike) was the one bent in half. what is the one on the left used for? Anyway I straightened out the one on the right and went for a ride to test it out. Sure enough the problem went away. Thanks fellas

haha i had that same problem today, but it died like 1/4th of a mile from my house, and i could only run it with full choak, then it died again and i couldnt start it to i took it home and took the tank off and reassembled the pecock, and to think that the hose may have been my problem lol.
