Default should I get this bike?

hello all. Trying to decide (afford) my first bike... ran across a 1993 f2 with 42k on it for 1500 bucks... not really sure if i should get it.. that 1500 is after talking the guy down off of his original price of 2200 .. "holy sh*T" i know lol. i should probably be just saving money because 1000 more would land me a bike 10x better but... I've been looking for a month...and I just have that itch to get a bike. I waited a long time to get one and now that i finally decided ... it seems like the good deals disappeared lol.

so 42k... some say high miles....then others say it isn't... really i feel like for my first bike I deserve the higher milage older bike... seems like thats how it went when i got my first car many many years ago....

nothing seems to be wrong with it (that i know) it runs...its not needing fairings or paint... clean title... which is a far cry better than the last offer i got for a 1500 dollar 98 cbr that didnt run, had 30k on it, and had a crash cage on it..

Post some pictures.

Also, for a first bike it's a good idea to get something cheaper and older. Make all your beginner mistakes on it, and then move on to your next bike.

Also, buy the bike, and then buy the ebay plastic kit for it and hold onto it. When you're done crashing/dropping/doing beginner ****, slap it on and sell it for what you paid.

A+ advise...pretty much the exact thing i was thinking.. i have yet to see pics of the bike myself.. but *if* its at least in somewhat reasonable shape...i might just jump on it. no need spending 3000 bucks on a bike that will most likely be dropped. i rode a lot of 125/250 cc dirt bikes for the past 10 years.... so this isnt my first time on something with 2 wheels....but yeah...dirt bike isnt 400 lbs with a 600 cc engine..

My 92 f2 has 41k on it, only minor problems so far. Replace the cct with an ape unit, and when the stock r/r fries, get a gsxr unit. done and done

well heres the bike

not so keen on the color scheme on the seat... id be in love if it were the actual smokin joe edition. overall though it "looks" like it was taken care of, plus its 15 miles down the road so i dont have to try to figure out a way to get it shipped home..

Advise my friend gave me is to have the seller test ride it in front of you. Make sure it sounds ok changing through its gear. Make sure it can start cold. Tell the owner not to start it up as it is easier for a warm engine to start than a cold one.

I would say go for it if it checks out, the F2 is a lot of fun. It is my first bike and I am glad I went with it. Parts are not TOO expensive and maint isn't that hard.

the problem is the guy keeps talking about what all *custom* he had done to the bike...so this is making him want to drive thr price up and he isnt wanting to budge much off of 2200 ... i offered him a 600 dollar snap on service cart/tool box and 1000... he said 1800 with the cart. i said Goodbye. Looks like ill just keeeeeeep on lookin!
