Hi Guys,

maybe some of u remember that i asked u guys some things about my rear shock absorber. I wanted a new one cause the old one was a bit weared out. At least, that was the conclusion i took, cause it was loose and the tail was a bit lower.

I buyed a used shock absorber, and installed it. I thought the tail raised a bit, but just a tiny bit so that was quite dissapointing. However it isn't loose anymore.

But my main question is, how can it be that my rear end is lower then all the cbr's of the same type i have ever seen. I dont understand it.. I hope someone can help me.

Tnx!

P.s.: My Pre-Load is in the sixth position

well it could one of several things, First check to make sure all the components are there correctly such as the dogbone ect.....if that all checks out..then check to see if there is an aftermarket lowering link...if not that...then im stumped and I would buy a f4/f4i rear shock..this will raise your height anywhere from 1 inch to about an inch and a half...I run one on my F2 because im 6'6"...it will handle differently..not sure how much different havnt been able to take it out since I got it but its worth a shot?

Yeah ok, but i just bought a different one. If i knew that darn! But anyway, i will check the dogbone. But i am sure it is there, the only question is if it is the original one or one that lowers the tail. Wich i doubt. I have never heard of longer dogbone to lower the rear end, only shorter to rise it up.

But thanks anyway for your help man!

Machine shop made mine longer to lower the tail. You might be able to take yours to a shop and have themmake it shorter. Shouldn't bevery expensive.

@reydelaplaya:
Off Topic: Okay! But don't you have any problems with your jiffy now? Because it is lowered? Or did u shortenend the jiffy to?

On Topic: I dont understand why the previous owner lowered the bike, what is your motivation then? I thought mayb there is something else wrong like the frame or the rear bridge (or how do u call that, where the rearwheel fits in).

tnx for the help so far

I softened mine up alot due to the fact that I am short (5'7"). With the rebuild I am going to try it with it stiffened up a little and see if it makes a difference. You can get a adjustable dog bone off ebay I think but I am not sure. Just Google sport bike parts and you get so many sites that you can not go through them all in 1 sitting (trust me I tried).

Um... jiffy?? Kickstand, maybe? If it's the kickstand, no it is still original size, and the bike barely leans using it.

The previous owner of my bike lowered it front and back. He was about 5'7". I'm 5'9 so it worksnice for me. The part was made in a localmachine shop.

No problems with the swingarm.

@reydelaplaya: I checked your pic out but your sidestand does look different from mine. That little thing you use to turn the stand out is much more placed to the ground then mine.

well, i checked the rear shock's dogbone. And it is the original length. So what could it be?I do have a 120/70 front tire instead of 120/60. Butwould it be that??I hope so, then the problem is solved very easily by just replacing the tire wit a 120/60 when needed.

The difference in height between a 70 and a 60 is minimal - probably less than half an inch. That may not be it.

In cars, they'll sit lower if the springs are weak. Any chance it's the spring around the shock?
