Rattling noise (doubt its CCT)
Hi! New to the forum.
So I bought a 1991 CBR as my first big bike and im loving it.
38k miles, past a MOT 5 weeks ago, paints a little faded. I didnt put those tacky stickers on it either.
Everything works as it should but theres this rattling noise coming from the gearbox area. I read through the CCT sticky and it doesnt sound like its the tensioner. Rattling only appears at around 3k revs.
I've recorded the sound which can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIME1Epiq5g
Also, what are the LED and two connectors for in this pic?
Cheers!

The LED and connectors aren't part of a regular F2. Somebody has added something. My wild guess is the LED is an alarm. The other connectors might be for a battery tender/charger. You'd have to take the bike apart and follow the wires.

Well I stripped off the both rear and the lower left side fairing and the rattle has seemed to dissapear. Im going to take her out for a ride tomorrow without the fairings on to see if I can get the rattle to reappear.
I found an auto oiler hidden under the seat, it has a hose leading from the 2nd from the left carb. Does this create a positive pressure in the oiler forcing out the oil? The oiler does have a turnable top which alters the flow rate.
And your wild guess was spot on, there appears to have been a alarm system in place at one time. Im guessing because of the difficulty in removing the seat to get access to the battery, the connectors were installed instead. The wire from the LED runs into the horns wiring which is odd.
Im going to take all the fairings off and respray them as they're tatty looking.
I'll take pics tomorrow
