Questions About Buying '94 CBR 600 F2
I have found someone who is selling the '94 cbr 600 f2. I am trying to get in touch with the seller now to find out some details about the bike. However, right now I know that it runs and rides, but does not shift into second gear. You can shift through it, you just have to skip it.
He is asking around $700 for the bike. KBB values the bike as $1000 trade in for a good condition bike, and $1400something sell value.
How big of a problem could this be in the bike? Would I have to have the transmission rebuilt? How much would I be looking at putting into the bike to get it to good condition? I'm hoping I could talk the guy down to $500-600 range, if it is worth getting still.
Thanks

look im looking for a similar deal. Truth is (I had a cbr600f3) and i went thru hell and back being my first bike I didn't know much.
Truth is motorcycle unlike cars with 1-2 hours of research online and have some mechanical ability you should be able to do a lot of work yourself (change the oil, fairings, tires etc.)
Most likely if its skipping gears its the clutch or the transmission.
Clutch to get it fixed its around 300-500 dollars. Transmission go on craigslist find a cbr scrapping parts get a transmission for about 100, take it to a mechanic and get it put in.
Talk him down a couple bucks.
I plan on doing the same thing as you. Go on ebay or fairing websites get new fairing kit, spark plugs, oil change take it to a reliable mechanic get it looked at and you will have a nice looking cheap motorcycle that can honestly compete with alot of 2000s motorcycles. CBR600s are machines why I love HONDA only down side is carbs. Get those cleaned or clean em your self (again videos online) wish someone posted one here. its simple just takes hours to do it. its like a giant puzzle.
