Default Plastic Sproket Cover

My f2 was missing the plastic sproket cover when I bought. I went on line (ebay) and bought one, cover, metal spacer and two bolts. If I use the spacer it brings the cover out pretty far and interfears with the shift lever. Can I use the sproket cover without the metal spacer? If so will the sproket/shaft chew up the inside of the plastic cover? Thanks

Ya you should be fine, the cover isn't completely sealed so if you have to rock without the spacer. You may have your engine mount spacers backwards tho

Like Jank said,

Your sprocket cover is meant to fit with the spacer and bolts. Assuming you didnt buy some asian knockoff of a cover that provided you with a 1/2'' spacer, your engine mounting needs to be tweaked. Or even your rearset shift rod.

Thanks guys, I did a little more research. The cover and "guide plate" (as it's called) is OEM. However, it looks like the bike might have the wrong gear shift lever, hence the interference. I just bought another one on ebay specifically for a 93, lets see if that fits better. Thanks again.
