Overheating

Used my CBR 600 1991 model ,and I stopped at lights, and noticed that radiator coolant was dripping out of pipes near side stand!Do you top up radiator on top of radiator,or is there a reservoir! upper/lower!!! If so could anyone please let me know! Cheers

Hi , is the bike actually over heating through lack of coolant, check out the siphon tube from the rad to the reserve tank.

Have you ever microwaved some leftovers in a plastic bowl with a plastic lid and instead of the lid blowing off, it blows up like a balloon, then it you let it cool for a little while with the lid still on it the starts to be sucked into the bowl, all concaved and stuff. Well, that is pretty much how the radiator and overflow tank act like. When the engine is running and maybe getting a little on the hot side excessive coolant flows into the reserve tank, when it cools it creates a vacuum and sucks it back into the radiator. That way there is the maximum amount of coolant in the engine & radiator possible.

Cheers pal ,did what you said n it's sorted, put a bit too much so i could find out if fans and water pump working!! All are ,but when it came out it was rusty water! So is that a bit of a flush ! Or should I have just done to level! Basically I did it to make sure no leaks or anything not working!! Seems like it ok now,so don't think done anything wrong! But thanks again, couldn't get any info anywhere else,so glad I found this!

Glad you sorted, I would have put in 50/50 coolant with distilled water though:)
