Default odd problem

alright this is a new one for me. well i was out riding today, and i got maybe a mile from the house and it started acting up then died, so i coasted it to a parking lot because it acted like it ran out of gas. i figured i forgot to turn the tank on or something, well it was on and i let it sit for a min then it fired right up and ran perfect. well i get down the road maybe another mile or 2 and same problem, this time i try starting it again and it cranks slow. so i figure the battery needs charged. when i get it to the garage of course the battery will not charge, so i get a new one and now it runs great. now my question is would a battery going bad cause the bike to just die going down the road?? i tested the old one and just sitting it had above 12 volts, but when trying to start it it dropped to around 10 or so. also on my battery there were 2 wires one from the postive side, and one from the negitave side going to a 75 amp fuse then to a plug, does anyone else have this? and can i just use a regular charger like you would use for a car battery for a bike battery? and do i need to get something to maintain the charge on the battery?

if you're letting it sit for a long time look into a battery tender...in regard to your problem, what's going on with the R&R???

A bad battery can definitely cause the bike to have issues like that. A shorted cell can do odd things.

I was thinking that also, but it took me a couple of hours to finally look into the battery. I figured it had a dead cell or something, but so far so good with the new one. What do you mean by R&R?

regulator & rectifier...it controls the voltage...and is known to have problems on the f2...
