Default Odd problem..

Ok, I have a 92 F2, and have the following symptoms:

I just purchased it (last Friday), and rode it home. About a mile or so from work, it died like it was out of gas. I thought uh oh, I forgot to see if it had gas. I shut the key off, opened the gas tank door, and low and behold, I have plenty of gas. I switched the petcock around a few times, scratched my head, then tried to re-fire it.. It started again after 2-3 minutes and ran fine (ish) the rest of the way home.

Today, I took it to work, rode fine all the way to work (around 78 degrees).
Rode it to get it inspected, (90 degrees+) and it died about a mile from work again. Repeat of before, except it took about 4-5 minutes to re-fire..

Ok, fast foreward to me coming home from work.

I was riding home, and it died.. in almost the EXACT same spot as before. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Any ideas? I know it probably needs a carb synch, as it tents to 'hunt' for an RPM under very very light throttle (4krpm@40mph or so)

Soooooo yeah.. help me!

I had the same problem, it turned out to be a bad regulator/rectifier and stator.

The charging system was whacked so it would partially charge my battery so I could ride for a while, and then it wouldn't charge enough and the entire bike would stall while I was riding.

I must have pushed my bike home 3-4 times because of that.

My advice: take it to a certified Honda tech, bite the bullet about the price, and have them run a full diagnostic on the charging system, and the bike. It might be something else. [:@][:'(]

I don't think it's the charging system, because immediately after it dies, I can hit the button and it turns over just fine, just won't fire.

When it dies open the gas cap and see if you can hear air rush in. If so then you have a clogged/kinked vent tube

I did that last night, and didn't hear anything.

Something I should mention, work is 30 miles away, one way, so after it does after a mile or 2, it runs fine for the next 29+

yeah it is odd..

Only thing I can think that may have something to do with it, when this has happened, the bike has been sitting outside on a blacktop parking lot at 90+ degrees. In the morning when I rode to work without a problem, it was mid-70's out and the bike spent the night in the garage...

so something with the heat maybe>?

any more ideas?

I rode it around some this weekend and it didn't give me any problems, but it was in the garage, not out in the sun..

Cover your helmet with tin foil.

Other than that, I am at a loss.
