new tires
Hey everyone i'm in need of new front tire. i had my rear one replaced a few weeks ago and got a maxxis tire i really like the feel and the easy turning. does anyone have a suggestion on the front tire? my mechanic has quite a few tires around the same price but he doesn't have any personal suggestions.

RE: new tires
well i decided on getting a pirelli diablo tire. i had read some interesting things on the tire including that it has a steel band, supposedly stronger fibers, and the warm up time is very quick. Well after all was said and done with tire purchase and install was about 130 so not too bad, i did notice a big difference between the old worn down bridgestone tire and the new tire. i did about 8 circles in each direction to wear off that silicon then hit the freeway. i took it pretty easy but the ease of turning with just the slightest weight shift got the better of me and i ended up taking a few corners at what some would consider questionable speeds... haha. the true test is going to be on my trip this weekend, im headed down south towards tucson and am going to be taking a scenic windy route. i'll let you know how she does.

RE: new tires
You're not supposed to mix and match tires.
Every tire has a different profile, and are designed to work with their matching partner tire.
If you push these tires hard, there is an increased risk of a crash.
I'll also note that you should not use Maxxis tires on a streetbike, many many bad reviews... They're best saved for dirtbikes and lawnmowers.
Be careful, maybe see if your dealer will take that Maxxis tire back on trade for a new Pirelli...

RE: new tires
Oh, P.S., for all you guys that notice the incredible handling that your new tires have over your old ones...
Your old ones at some point in their life had the same effect.
It's just that they get squared off (flat profile) after so much usage.
To prolong the life of your tires, check pressures religeously, 34F/36R works well.
The new ones feel great because they have the proper air pressure, and a fresh profile!
