New Purchase CBR600 F2 PC25

Bought this last week and had to arrange a courier to go get it and bring it down as it was located in Doncaster which is several hundred miles away from me and being busy with other things couldn't go get it myself which to be straight had me hoping the bike was and is as good as the seller had stated. The bike arrived tonight after dark it was around 20:30 when it arrived the weather being miserable I've locked her up and thrown a cover over it until tomorrow when I can get a better look and see what the state of play is.

The seller had lost the keys so I've already purchased a full replacement lock set and just for good measure a replacement set of tires with less than 100 miles on them which were fitted to a bike for its test just before all its electrics fried and the owner deciding it was something he didn't want to get into broke it down and started selling off the parts. Initial observations have thrown up a broken left side seat side panel both main side fairings not bolted in place correctly and the fairing infill on the right hand side damaged and also the bottom section of the fairings that holds both sides under the engine is missing (belly pan) so I now need to try and find good replacement parts in the original livery.

I will be going through this bike in between working on and rebuilding my TS250 so will add to this post as I go, the general idea is to strip the bike to the engine and frame and clean the hell out of everything. I will be sanding down the frame treating all rusted areas with a rust solution to seal it from rusting again before priming and re spraying in silver. I'll then clean and polish the engine and go through the rest of it cleaning up everything up tidying polishing waxing etc etc before I put each individual part back. This is currently the only picture of the bike I have but I'll take some tomorrow after I've examined the bike and washed it down.

I took a chance on buying this sight unseen the seller did say he'd taken off the fairings to get at the ignition in readiness to remove it so I'm just presently hoping what I've seen of the fairings not seeming to be sat right is just because of this, tomorrow will tell, this is the bike as it was listed on Farcebook Marketplace.

Moderators, I've just noticed this doesn't appear to be in the right place I'm thinking I "should have posted in F2 Media, if you could please move the post to where it 'should be I'd be grateful, thankyou

Good luck with that, no doubt there will be some unseen gremlins when you start to strip it. Great to see it being brought back from the dead!
Do you intent to keep it?

Updated pictures taken today, she's a bit rough in places I can see there's plenty of work ahead so as soon as I get the chance I'll remove the fairings and get stuck in. At the moment I need to source a left hand side panel the one that runs up along the side of the seat to the tail panel. I also need a pair of fairing infill panels that are located on both sides of the side fairings as the right one is busted and the left one missing, I "may, also replace the full right hand side fairing as it has scuffs, I've also found someone has removed the main stand which is a bit of a pain.

Hey, Yeah she's looking pretty unloved at the moment I believe she has been standing several years in his garage after his dad who owned the bike passed away I'm told the bike was "his baby" they had it shipped to Spain to their Villa when they went over there for a time and then had it shipped back when they came back to the UK. The bike has done 50,148 so fair to middlin I suppose, as long as the motor is good I can work with the rest but I'm assured "for what that's worth" that she always started first turn of the key and sounded great, we shall see and yes I have every intention of keeping it for at least the time being it will be a great bike and these 93 F2s in this color scheme are only getting rarer and rarer.

Took all the plastics off it this afternoon  seems I have my work cut out for me, the frame is a mess "so, what "was, going to be a tart up/spruce up and ride job is now going to be a full strip down and restoration job, this is going to cost a bit I can see it coming

Been there Cuda 😂 my father always used to discourage me from taking something working apart, it’s taken me till my mid 40s to understand why! Nice bike when you are done though. Loving my ‘93 F2

All I can say is buddy, I hope mine looks that good when it's done you've done a great job of restoring her she looks awesome. I've just bought a real nice left side fairing panel from Baboon motorcycle parts in the Netherlands bought it yesterday arrived today VERY impressed not only was the delivery lightening fast it also looks darn near immaculate. The weather here SUCKS at the moment it's just too wet to get anything done but I've stripped the panels the fairing the battery box the license plate and tail light hanger plastic off it just to make a start. The frame is a mess someone at some point has hand painted the rear of the frame in black gloss the rest of it doesn't look that bad but it's definitely getting blasted and powder coated in nice new silver. While it's sat waiting for more attention I'm just going to carry on buying all the bits I need for it including a replacement rear license plate hanger plastic as someone has been hacking away at it and fitted a set of those small cheap flashers ..why some people feel the need to Butcher rather than fix is completely beyond me :(

Right small update, I've been way too busy to do much of anything to the bike but have taken note of some of the items that need replacing so I bought a good used battery box 'with lid from Evil Bay a few days back quickly followed by the purchase of a good used replacement rear undertray that holds the tail light indicators and license plate. The undertray came 'with tail light and standard indicators and it all looks to be in pretty reasonable condition in that it's all there and hasn't been butchered so I'm going to clean that up and spray it with silicone spray to make it look nice and new again or at least very presentable for when fitting day comes around.

I've also bought a really nice condition left side engine fairing from the Netherlands from a company called Baboon Motorcycle parts it looks just about mint in the correct period decals so pretty happy with that. Now, I found on stripping some more away from the bike that someone has broken the airbox due to some of its screws being rusted in solid 'so, I'm now in need of a nice non broken replacement so if anyone has a very nice airbox for the 93/94 PC25 F2 CBR (in the UK) and you would like to part with it do please give me a shout, thanks

Can anybody please tell me if the CBR600 F3 ignition is exactly the same as the one on the F2 same wiring same blocks etc as I've found a lock set with both keys for a 97 F3 and am contemplating buying it?
