New member with a cbr project

Just picked up a 91 plate 600 f2 that needs some love. seems to be a good engine but not rideable at the moment. the bike was partially stripped when I bought it.
It will be my first bike for over 30 years, and I plan on restoring it and getting to know the bike. Expect lots of daft questions from me.

The plan is a general tidy up, full paint of the fairings a good service then enjoy the summer.
I will post pics on here, just to record its progress.

first job is tidy up the frame, I have ordered the paint. I plan on just touching up the bad bits as I don't want to completely strip the bike, the plan is to do a rolling restoration so I can still use it.
I have also removed the rear pegs and ordered a new exhaust hanger, quite a bit of metal removed those brackets seem excessively big.

Exhaust will need replacing, could do with some ideas about the replacement such as cost and suppliers. Unless a member has a spare used one.

will post some pics when I get home as working away for a week.

Congrats on the pick up, looking forward to seeing your progress. I am working on my F2 project as well.

Today didn't go so well, up early and a whole day to work on the bike.

having removed the tank and what was left of the plastics I noticed the frame was twisted at the rear. Then the v5 arrived and it has been a write off something the nice seller failed to disclose.

Having contacted nice seller he has become not so nice very quickly, so I think my only option is a complete rebuild with a new 2nd hand frame.

The build just got a lot longer..........

That bites. But on the bright side, when you're finished, you will have a bike that you know every square inch of.

Depending on your finances I'd buy another frame and swap everything into it .....first 4 pictures are my F3 bought as seen .had not run since 2014 after discovering the prev owner had out the coil wired back to front he also had spark plugs in wrong cylinders..
last 2 pics are where I'm up to she runs .has a f4 rear plastics exhaust and gaife

Managed to get a 2nd hand frame for £42 delivered so the rebuild is on.

I'm off work mon/tues so hope to get stuck into sorting the new frame. Ive ordered the swinging arm bearing kit and want to get stuck in. Think I will keep a running total of the costs just to see what it ends up at. Current total inc bike £665 ( best not let the wife see this )

The plan is now a total restoration, my OCD could be tested :)
