when my rectifier went bad i made something similur. i put two bolts in the battery box across from the posts and made accessable posts for my battery. tho i did use a little heavier guage wire.

That seems like a good idea until you fry someones cigarette lighter circuit (you'll likely just blow their fuse first). Lighter circuits are not meant do support the current that a jump start needs.

Did he say it works? I don't remember him saying he's tried it yet. I could be wrong.

I stand corrected. But uhh...what is a twelve volt fuse? Fuses are rated in amperage that they are capable of handling. And im still confused as to how a 30 or less amp fuse isn't frying itself when it's circuit is being used to turn a starter.
