need some help (Carbs???)
Well I finally got my project f2 started and it bearly ran when fully chocked, but even then the RPM's were only at 1400 and on my f4 they normally are at 2-3kish. Anyways the second you gave it any throttle or took the choke off the engine immediately cut off. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a carb synch would help, but do yall think it is much more than that? Let me know, any ideas would be greatly appreciated, and info on how to adjust the carbs would be appreciated also.
Thanks

Are the jets clear? How long do you let it warm up? I had the same issue with mine, but it goes away after the engine has warmed up. I just synched the carbs today and adjusted the idles screws. My engine now runs really smooth.
Make sure you are getting fuel to the carbs first. The petcock may be clogged or the fuel line/filter
But I really think your carbs are just dirty. I suggest taking the carbs off and cleaning them. Since you say it's a project bike, I assume it's been sitting for awhile so the carbs are probably gunked up. Also, how are the spark plugs looking?

My bike has super-clean carbs and a Stage 1 jet kit. She idles on choke starting at 2k RPM. After 10-15 seconds, it jumps to about 3500 RPM. At that point I slowly back off on the choke to get it back to 2k RPM. I let it sit there at 2k for about a minute, then I don't use choke any more.
Bike should idle off choke at 1200 RPM +/- 100RPM.
I guess this is a little late since you've already torn your carbs down, but if you can get your bike to start, try pouring SeaFoam directly into the carbs for a quick (but lesser quality) cleaning.

So I funneled fuel direclty into the fuel line going into the carbs, and it turned over just fine wtih choke. So either there is something wrong with the petcock or there was not enough fuel in the tank, but either way while it was running on choke it was only at 1400rpms and the second you hit throttle or let off choke it shut off. Any ideas?
