Default leak from carb and hard start

Honda CBR600F2

Noticed the other day that my #1 carb is driping fuel. Not sure yet where its coming from. Didnt really want to take it off untill i located it with the thought that if i did i wouldnt be able to find the source of the leak bucause ive now changed the angle of the carb. the entire outside of the carb is saturated in fuel, and has run down the side of the motor and along the head gasket area. looks as if my header port is also saturated with fuel. ill get some pics up in a bit.

Also when i try to start the bike the motor turns over then acts as if it has seized. Just keep getting a click after that. After a while it lets go and will turn over again after several minutes of fighting with it. battery is NEW and charges just fine. Im just wondering if maybe the fuel has soaked past the gasket and into the cylinder and causing the piston to seize.

Any thoughts and/or sugestions is much appreciated.

Your float might be stuck. Rap the side of the carb with the end of a screwdriver and see if it unsticks. Also, it possible that it might not be turning because enough fuel has poured into the motor and hydrolocked it. Pull the sparkplugs and crank it over to blow out all the fuel. After you get it to run, change the oil, as its probably saturated with fuel.

Correct. Have a stuck float and hydolocked motor. Oil is definately saturated with fuel. It smells pretty bad. Yaaaaay more work for me this weekend.

Thanx

also, what would cause a float to stick? I know its not gunked up cuz ive had the carbs off 3 times in 2 months getting this pesky low RPM stutter to go away (fixed that though.)

Dunno, when my carbs were upside down to change the o-rings, the float must have reached the end of it's travel and gotten stuck in the open position. A few raps with a screwdriver got them going again.

I imagine if the float is damaged, it will no longer float to engage the needle valve and stop fuel from entering the bowl. A damaged float is probably filled with fuel, too. How it was damaged is the next big question.

No dammaged floats. no stuck floats but if there was it came unstuck in the removal of the carbs process.
The last pic I attached has me worried that something bigger is going on. I removed the needles and found this **** in there and have no idea how it got there. Fuel goes nowhere near this area and i dont see how a stuck float would cause this in ALL carbs.

If that float was not stuck than what was causing your leak and where exactly was it coming from.
I'm currently in a similar situation

I read somewhere that if the vacuum valve in the petcock is malfunctioning, it can actually let fuel flow through the vacuum tube and into carb #1. Might be worth checking...
