Default knock some miles off the odom

hey,
since i replaced my old motor with a kinda new 10k mile motor i wanted to kno if theres a way to change the odometer on the bike. when i was redoing some seals i noticed the inside of the speedo cable and was wondering if you could spin it backwards with a power drill or something or is there another way. im not trying to sell it for more than its worth, i just got it last year and am interested in how to do this if i have spare time.

It's illegal, and impossible to roll back the odometer without breaking it open.

The speedo cable only runs one direction.

I don't condone it, but if you want to lower the mileage indication you can just buy a new speedometer from Honda that will ready 0 miles.

Or, ebay a used set of gauges with lower mileage.

This is illegal and impractical. Instead, you should attempt to document the engine swap as best you can. Hopefully you can snap some pictures of the new engine and get any documentation possible about the new engine's age. Then you can show that info to a potential buyer.

Actually it can be done. Pull the cluster off and insert a piece of 1/8" keyway stock into the speedo cable hole. If you spin that enough times, your mileage will go down. There's no safeguard against running backward. But... you have to spin it for a long time. I'm talking like 200 rpm for a month for 10k miles lol.

If its an electronic odometer, plenty of places will do it. Not so with the mechanical ones.
