Just need some advice........
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I had my F2 out idling the other day, ran fine, sounded good. After letting it warm up to operating temp I shut it off and brought it back inside. After awhile there was a strong smell of gas and then saw a small puddle of gas underneath it. This bike hasn't leaked anything since I have owned it. So I took all the plastics off and took the carbs off. I cleaned the bowls and float needles (they were pretty dirty). I noticed that the third cylinder head was full of gas:
Attachment 72817 (I know its a little dirty [&:]) Would a stuck float needle cause this, or is there a bigger problem I have to solve? Any tips or advice will help, thanks guys. |
RE: Just need some advice........
wow i have never seen anything like that but i am intrigued... could it be the intake valves are stuck closed?you could rotate the engine by hand and see if they are opening and closing but then if they do open all that fuel is going into the cyl.

RE: Just need some advice........
Thanks for the tip, Im going to get all of the fuel out before I do that.

i would go with a stuck valve also but i think you would have noticed while driving that number 3 wasnt firing. you are going to have to like bindels said rotate the motor and see. check the plugs too.

RE: Just need some advice........
I removed the gasoline from the head (it doesnt taste very good[:'(]) then I put the bike in 6th gear and pushed it while watching the valves. They all move how they should, one thing I noticed is that the left valve on the third (trouble) cylinder has build up on it, and all of the others are pretty clean. It also looks like the entire cylinder is filled with gas, you can see it when the valves move, is there any easy way to drain this?

RE: Just need some advice........
maybe try running some seafoam through it. Its suppose to help clean up internal engine parts.

RE: Just need some advice........
i have never seen that before but my guess is that plug is completely shot. if i were you i would get a tiny piece of hosing and rotate until those valves are open again and yup you guessed it syphon that out man.

RE: Just need some advice........
I'd use an automotive syringe to remove the gas otherwise just pull the plug out and crank the engine over, let the cylinder pump it out. I have never seen anything flood with gas like that, which ain't good.
put new plugs in, check that carburetor to make sure the needle is seating properly and not letting gas to run constantly. |
RE: Just need some advice........
id go with plugs first if that aint it you may be looking at some worn valve springs or maybe something wrong with the cameshaft lobe.

RE: Just need some advice........
Thanks for the help guys, I pumped the gas out and cleaned the carbs. Now I just need to put it back together and see if it runs
