Insurance cost? Please help! First CBR
Im looking at a solid 1992 Honda Cbr 600 f2 on Craigslist. Has 30,000 miles on it and the seller says it's been well maintained and he's ridden recently (don't trust him yet but hopefully it's true). Anyways I was wondering what most of you average paying insurance yearly.
Also im from Western New York so if anyone in state can answer that'd be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

There are tons of variables when it comes to calculating insurance rates.
Sex
Age
Where you live
Driving record
Daily commute distance
Number of people on policy
Wether or not you combine it with other vehicles or policies
Type and size of bike being insured
Type of insurance purchased full or liability)
Deductible amount
Those are the big things, I am sure there is more.
Having said all that, I pay around $100.00 for my bike policy

FWIW, I pay $500/yr for my Hurricane. I've been riding 15 years, and aside from ancient history (couple times losing my license/getting things impounded/being an idiot) in my 20's, I haven't given them any reasons to bump up my rates
Shop around. Unless you've written bikes off, or had recent major drama on your driving record, it should be a fraction of what it would cost to insure a car
Edit - I have had a couple of teensy tiny speeding tickets, and this includes both my bikes. As I say, results will vary. Still, now that I know what Hamlin pays, I might try and be extra mature from now on. Dang

lol, because 'teensy tiny' one are completely different from regular speeding tickets.
Speaking of which, I nearly got one last week on my way to work.
Traffic was light, so I was commuting with great efficiency.
It probably would have been one of those 'go directly to jail' speeding tickets.

That's a creative defense. Wonder if the judge would have bought it?
If the op's a 20 year old guy, then yeah, it could be more expensive than for us old and wisened folks. Gender factors, which sucks. I remember without a doubt the worst squid I ever met was a girl. She was a brand new rider, and I think she was really keen to get some cred by acting as scummy as possible. I'd remarked that her helmet seemed kinda rough, and she explained that she had trouble getting it clean after puking up all over the inside of it while cruising home after a wild night. Never wore a stitch of leather. Claimed her F4i (not to stereotype, but it's always an F4i in these type of stories) had hit 230kmph on a busy road inside town
She'd been riding for all of three months before her license was taken away. That cop probably saved her life. Up til that point, she'd paid less than a half what my insurance cost
As Hamlin says, maybe if you show up with a pink helmet and insist (loudly) that they not assume your gender, they'll give you a break

I use online insurance companies because I don't want to spend time out of my day to see an agent, like esurance. They wouldn't insure motorcycles so I picked up Progressive for that. Nothing I own on two wheels is overly valuable and I just get liability only, no collision. I also add 50K worth of medical payments in case I don't die instantaneously in a crash. About 50 bucks each no matter how many I insure. That's with a clean record (How I have that is beyond me lol).
Make sure you understand what's included in your policy and don't try to cheapen it up just because you will be paying the more expensive 20 year old rate. If you end up having to sip your food through a straw for a while do it in monetary comfort.
If you borrow money to buy a motorcycle that's where the cost comes in because the lender will require collision, and maybe even what kind of deductible you are allowed to have.
