Default How often to change the oil

I know this is a very dumb question, I am brand new to the bikes but how often do you need to change the oil? I am currently running Mobil 1 (for bikes) I searched around a bit and found no direct answer.

I replace the engine oil once a year.
Thats about 10000km (6000mi) between each change.

I think the manual says every 12 months or 12000km (8000mi), whichever comes first (If I remember correctly).

I replace mine every 2-3k km's.

There's a reason the inside of my engine looks like it just rolled off the factory conveyor.

i do mine every 3000 km's too. It should be treated like a car. 12000km's sounds crazy.

Car oil change frequency's are far less than a bikes, think about how many more engine revolutions you're getting out of a 13,000RPM engine compared to a 5,000rpm engine... The rate of wear is almost doubled

There will be as many different answers to this question as there are people who answer it. You need to look at how you ride and what kind of oil you're using as well. If your using the upper tach range alot, obviously your oil is going to break down a lot quicker and you will require oil changes sooner and if you're using a fully synthetic oil, you can go longer between changes because it resists viscocity breakdown better. I personally, do it about every 1500 miles and don't use synthetic oil. I also change the filter every time I change the oil.
