Default How to change sprockets?

Ok, well i just got my f2 last summer and im looking at getting new sprockets and chain for it, look at going down 1 in the front and up 2 in the back. I have the plastics off the bike right now for painting, so i figured to do some mods while there off. I was wondering how hard it is to change the chain and sprockets, and what tools are needed to do it, plus does it throw off the speedo, and any other easy mods, or cheeper mod ideas would be nice to know. Thanks for the input

Sprockets are easy to do. Front sprocket you just have to take off the cover and take the sprocket off with the correct socket. And the rear you have to take the rim off and use the correct socket to take that off. Easy. And yes it will throw off the speedo. Mine is off 5mph at 30-65 and then gradually gets more inaccurate as speed increases.

Not on an F2! Newer (than F2) CBRs have their speedos thrown off with sprocket changes because the speedo sensor on the newer CBRs are electronic and mounted on the tranny. The F2 speedo sensor is a mechanical one that is mounted on the front wheel. So sprocket changes won't affect speedo error.

You may indeed have a speedo error. All bikes do. But its not caused by your sprocket change.

Thank you, that how to will help me alot! Another question or two, what chain lube to use is the best? Well its my 1st bike and im pretty much a noob, so this question may sound stupid, but how would i go about keeping the chain clean, and sprockets clean? last year they were really bad, like if you touch them your hands turn black and it didnt come off, and it also spits up on the bottom of the tail, and that looks like ****. Is there a good way to clean chain and sprockets so this problem is avoided? I was thinking of getting vortex sprockets, with the rear one yellow (like my bike) and the chain black, and i have black rims, but its not worth getting if i had to clean ever day, so im not sure bout that yet, and for the 2 sprockets and chain its going to run me 190 bux or so with shipping included for the custumized color and yea... Thanks again
