how to adjust idle

If you do not have a pilot screw wrench can you do anything to adjust the idle.

Does your bike not have an idle adjustment screw? A knob should be connected to it with a long tube. Should be sticking out on the left side of the bike near the fuel valve.

The problem is that with choke on it is at 5k+rpms so I am wondering if I can lower while it is on choke.

if you leae the choke on once your bike heats up a bit, its going to idle high. this is when you turn the choke off as it is no longer needed. should drops your rpms to the normal range

No the thing is the bike idles on choke at high rpms but if I shut it off immediately, then the bike dies.

It shouldn't be an on/off deal. The bike should start with full choke, and idle pretty high. As the motor warms, the RPM's should increase, and you should gradually push the choke lever back to the upright position. Overall, when the motor is cold, I probably use the choke for 1 minute before the bike will idle on its own.
I try to keep the RPM's between 2k and 2.5k when using the choke. If your choke doesn't work this way then the choke cable may need adjustment or replacement. If the cable is good, maybe your carbs need a good cleaning.

so is choke on up or down? my bike always starts when the choke lever is down but if i begin to move it up it dies....though i was told the choke on was down and off was up? and also my bike has sat for a week before and if i pushed the lever up to what i believe it choke on nothing happens but when i nudge it down it starts fine? is somthing wrong or is this the correct postions

The choke is on when it is in the down position. If you look on the handlebar control, it has an arrow pointing in the direction (down) the choke is on. Merry Christmas

so then why is it my bike will not run at all if it's in the up position? this now explains why my bike runs so choppy i guess...well wtf

RE: how to adjust idle

If you warm up your bike with the choke on and then return the choke lever forward to its off position once warm, and you stall, your idle adjustment screw, near you left knee or petcock valve needs to be turned clockwise to raise the idle speed until you bike idles around 1200 rpm.. Hope this helps..
