I purchased a 93 cbr 600 a week ago. it ran fine. i baught it from a friend. i asked him what hes done... and he didnt do anything except change the oil.but since i like tearing **** apart a had to tear my new toy down and check everything.. and all i did outside of inspect was clean the plugs. Well after i put it all together and took it out it started to bog at high rpms. id say around 9k... the bike has 26,000 miles on it and runs smooth up to the 9k range.. then it just bogs...cant really say what exactly it feels like. I heard about running sea foam or some **** thru for carbs or something.. but the carbs seemed really clean.. i looked down at the valves and they seem a littlechalky .. but... anyway if any of this sparks an idea to someone on what my problem could be id appreciate the help

 

if it only bogs at high rpms check your airfilter

 

i just went for a spin and its more like 10k rpms.. and the airfilter seems really oily...but it breaths just fine! ... so idk if thats okay.. id also like to know what i should be looking for on a bike with this many miles on it. (26k) ... do you think that maybe its the fuel filter?

 

mine was bogging at 10k also i jsut cleaned my filter but put too much oil. that might be the case?

 

You can't really tell if your carbs are clean without taking the bowls off. If its not something simply caused by an air filter issue you're probably looking at a clogged jet, most likely the high speed jet.
