Hey everyone,

So yesterday I bought a 1994 Honda CBR 600 F2 with a few sratches on the fairings but I"m having one problem. There is a new battery and the bike turns over great but I just can't get it to start. I put new spark plugs in but I haven't had time to check the spark (I'll do that when the bike gets up here from St. Pete) but I wanted to know if there could be anything else I can look at. All fluids are alright, I can get it to almost start but it just won't happen. Either way I picked it up for $450 so I'm not compaining. I'll post pics when it gets here. Thanks for the advice.

 

$450?????? Just the fact that it turns over makes this bike a steal!! You sure it's not hot???

If it turns over good, that sound's like it's not getting fuel. Check the obvious things: if there's fuel in the tank, petcock position, etc... Did it sit awhile before you bought it?

 

I had similiar issues, but mine sat for like 5 years, so I had to clean out the carbs. I still have problems starting it, but I think it's just an idle screw issue which I'm working on tonight or this weekend.

 

I just bought a 94 F2 for $500 and put in a new batter also, and it turns over great, just no start. Does that deal with the starter? I'm going to empty the Gas tank because it sat for like a year and a half so the gas might be the problem.

 

Just emptying the gas might not be enough. You may need to clean the carbs. Checkout the How-To Section for directions. I would recommend actually visually inspecting the jets if you get to the point of removing the bowls and floats.

 

Yeah it turns over fine, I've seen it run since I bought it off my dad's buddy. It's garage kept so not much rain exposure but it just doesn't want to start, it's been sitting in his garage for a month not started. The battery is new and is fine so I'll check out the carbs.

Thanks for the advice, I've went through all 89 pages of this forum and read every thread about bikes not starting as well as I scooped up the service manual so I can't wait tomorrow to get out there and start working on it. I read many things like kinked fuel hose, kill switch like SJN said, and the idle screw. Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully tomorrow will get it running and I'll have some pictures to show you guys.
