HELP! F2 won't engage neutral if the engine is ON!

My F2 won't let me put the gear to neutral if the engine is running. I will need to shutdown the engine before I can put the gear to neutral.

What seems to be the problem here?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengaging. Have you tried adjusting it? [8D]

what he said....adjust it at the lever end first...if that doesn't fix it...adjust it back to where it was at the lever end...and start playing with the engine end(i'm referring to ends of the clutch cable)

Ok. I'll try your suggestions.

Thanks RickRacer and lonewolfcbr for your replies.

RE: HELP! F2 won't engage neutral if the engine is ON!

Briefly a friend of mine had a 74 CB350 that did this. But in that case it had leaky carbs that had leaked gas into the engine which in turn leaked into the crankcase. The oil was full of gas and it wouldn't go into neutral if the engine was running. Put some fresh oil in it and it started shifting a million times better and would glide into neutral just like it was supposed to. It was enough to make you think the transmission was junk, and all it took was an oil change.
In your case I'd check the clutch adjustment first, but if you've had carb problems then the oil might be something to check.
