Default help with chain and sprockets

[align=left]hey guys, i was just told today by a mechanic that i need to replace my chain and sprockets. being in college I cant afford the 350 dollars that they want to fix it. so i need to know if it is something i can do on my own and how to do it. I could not find another place that this was posted, sry if i mised it. thanks in advance for the help.

I recommend steel sprockets. The aluminum ones wear like butter. You can however get a full set of sprockets/chain on ebay for like 150ish shipped. Then you can install them by yourself and save some money.

heck yeah thats the only way to go. people that work in the shops are just like you they learn something new everytime they touch a new project. why educate them on your bike when you can use it for your education

I'll save you some time. The best deal on chains and sprockets is from the user sledpartsguy. I could never find deals cheaper than what he had.
It's not hard at all to change the chain and sprockets, if you have trouble just post up and your questions will be answered.

that you use two chains for every one set of sprockets (if the sprockets are not hooked) iv read on this site that you always have to change them together can you explain this. your help is appreciated
