Headlight is out!!!!????
i went on a ride and shut my bike off went inside, came back out to leave and the headlight wouldn't work. i checked the bulb and it was good replaced it anyway. can not find any reason why it happened. no loose wires in the harness, nothing grounded out, the fuse is good. the high beam indicator also dose not work. i am not getting current to the bulb. i am getting a lot of resistance through the high low switch when i isolate it. thought maybe normal. can anyone give me some idea why this would happen. https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif i dont want to replace anything else till i can get more input. please help i need my bike for transportation and i get up early for work so i need my headlight.

take the switch apart. with something like that id take a picture b4 u examine things closely. just because theres a lot of parts in there.

Take apart the right side controls and look at all of the electrical connections in there. I know it seems silly looking in there for a headlight problem, but the hot wire for the headlight goes through the starter switch on the way to the bulb. Mine was doing the same thing yours was too and a solder joint was broken in the starter switch. See if your headlight flickers when you turn the ignition on and wiggle the starter button. If it does, it's an easy fix with a little dab of solder. This seems to be a common F2 problem.
Hope this helps and good luck!! |

ok something else is going on.
i have the headlight problem again and it wont fix w/ just a little solder. i have resoldered it five times and that is just insanity. there is evidence of over heating of the wire in the start switch. i can go on a short ride and its ok but when i get home it it stops working. any one have a clue why it is overheating. i have checked for bare wires in the system cant find any. could a bad high/ low switch cause this to overheat the solder connection? i work w/ solder, and i have even tried high temp solder, and it still releases. any clue what would cause it to draw that many amps to unsolder????? Please help.
